I love looking at American Girl's daily deals leading up to the holidays. It's like a little advent calendar of savings. Too bad I can't make a purchase every day in December. Today's deals include these adorable nutcracker pajamas for bitty twins. I specially love the boy's soldier outfit. They each come with an a accessory and a little book, and there's even a matching nightgown for girls available. All three items are on sale for half price, but only for today, so snag them while you can!

I'm finally getting around to decorating for Christmas, and my dolls are getting ready too. My Heidi Ott doll Ellie came in a beautiful green-checked dress with puffed sleeves and lace trim. I simply swapped out her blue pinafore with a red plaid skirt. I tied a small hair scarf around her waist and a red ribbon at the neck for a more festive look. she's wearing her original shoes and socks because none of my other doll shoes will fit her long feet. This no-sew skirt was super easy and quick to make from an upcycled flannel pajama top. I cut off the bottom of the shirt just under the sleeves. Then I turned the resulting tube upside down and used the existing hem as a casing to run some elastic through. I embellished the bottom with some lace attached with fabric glue. Here is a back view showing the sash and her beautiful curls.
