The other day I was playing around with a couple of bandannas and discovered these fun patriotic looks for Independence Day. Grab a couple of brightly colored bandannas or handkerchiefs and try it for yourself!
Picture
Sleeveless Dress and Shawl
  • Fold one bandanna in half lengthwise and wrap it around your doll's chest. Secure it in back by tucking it into itself like you would a swim towel.
  • Fold the other bandanna in half lengthwise twice, so you have a long strip. Wrap the shawl around the doll's shoulders and tuck it around until it looks nice

Easy Skirt and Top
  • Fold one bandanna in half lengthwise twice. Wrap the strip around your doll's waist and secure by tucking in the end like you would a swim towel.
  • Fold the other bandanna the same way and center it behind the doll's neck. Bring one side up over the the doll's shoulder and spread the end out around the dolls waist.
  • While holding the first side in place, repeat with the other side.
  • Secure an elastic around the doll's waist to hold the top in place.
  • Spread out the extra fabric so it covers the doll in front (the top will remain open in back).

Two-toned Dress
  • Fold one bandanna in half lengthwise and wrap it around the doll's chest right under the arms.
  • Tuck the end in at the back to secure it in place
  • Fold the other bandanna into a triangle and then roll several times to get a long, narrow strip.
  • Center the strip in the front just above the doll's waist.
  • Bring one end around the doll's back and up over the opposite shoulder.
  • Pull tight and tuck the end underneath the other bandanna
  • Repeat for the other side.
  • Arrange the fabric to your liking and secure with safety pins or tape if desired.

Photo Details: Golden shoes are from Springfield Collection. Mini flag is from Dollar Tree. Headband is home-made with fabric scraps and a hair elastic. Bandannas were purchased from Walmart.
